Five acres of land have been set aside in California to receive a National Park for the lives of service men that were lost there. Back in 1944, 320 navy sailors, 202 of whom were black, were killed as they loaded ammunition onto a naval boat during World War II. The sailors were ordered to “work as cargo handlers, loading explosives for delivery to the war in the Pacific.” These sailors were not given the proper hazard training that this assignment required, and as a result 5,000 tons of ammunition went off killing many of the men. One month later all of the African American navy men were ordered to resume loading munitions, while white navy men were given 30 days to recover from the incident. The men who refused were court martialed and given 8 to 15 years of hard labor while others were given a dishonorable discharge. This incident was a major factor in the inception of the Civil Rights Movement. A prisoner who escaped from a British jail is taunting police on Facebook, and attracting a growing fan base from his profile. He continues to tease authorities for not being able to find him as he freely moves about. He regularly updates his Facebook page with his status, as well as pictures showing him holding a "wanted" sign or making obscene gestures. The fugitive's Facebook page has hundreds of messages from supporters, and a few occasionally write in to remind fans that they're cheering for a criminal. Police say the convicted felon is only helping them track him down faster. United States researchers say they have now found an antibody that kills prostate cancer. The first and only traditional black church in the Washington DC performs same sex marriages, and have been since 2007. Now the D.C. Council voted to legalize same-sex marriage in Washington. Several years ago their congregation unanimously decided on a vision statement that they recite together every Sunday morning. For them they say, the courage to perform same-sex unions is in keeping with the proudest traditions of their Baptist and congregational heritage. Within the Baptist tradition of freedom and autonomy, Covenant Baptist Church has a long history of progressive ministry emphasizing social justice, service to the community and inclusion. Some congregation members did not share their vision and half have since abandoned the church. Studies claim that some women cannot have an orgasm, however for one woman it is exactly the opposite.
